Mihawk Headcanons Pt. 2

Hold on to your horses, this is gonna be hella gay. Well, kinda. Very bi. (I kinda wanted to finish this one for pride month but I totallhy forgot abt it). Relationship headcanons

-Shanks was Mihawk's bisexual awakening. He's certain he's into women a little bit more, but that doesn't deny the fact that he likes men as well.

-Mihawk wasn't Shank's bi awakening (as a teen, he had a crush on both Roger AND Rayleigh. I mean, who wouldn't?), but he was his first bi experience.

-Shanks kissed him first and Mihawk went back for payback.

-Rivals to Idiots to Lovers, then back to Idiots.

-Did they have sex? Probably. Will I elaborate? No, this post is sfw. Was it on March 9th? Surely.

-It didn't work out. They wouldn't stop fighting and bantering all the time and they were better off away from each other.

-However, they were still an on and off thing during their late twenties and thirthies. Each a safe haven for the other. That is, until Shanks settled down and had a child (again, you will pry that hc from my dead hands).

-Even nowadays they have a certain unresolved tension whenever they are together, mostly while they are both drunk.

- He's got very strong Divorced Energy ™. I will leave that one up for your interpretation.

-He believes he's not good with children, but somehow kids love him. In truth, he's very caring when it comes to kids, because he knows they're frail and they get easily impressed by swords.

-Mihawk was a bit of a skirt-chaser when he was young, but never liked commitment. He'd rather focus on his training and ever since then he has a sword for a brain, so he was not that much interested in settling down or committing to a relationship.

-That lifestyle didn't last long. Soon he began to grow bored with mundane relationships that didn't bring him any sort of thrill. When he moved to Kuraigana after being appointed Shichibukai, he did so with full knowledge that his time as a flirt was done for, since it didn't bring him any sort of rush anymore.

-He has been in love twice in his life. All those other relationships were mere fleeting things.

-He is a very attentive man when he's in love. He tends to be overprotective at times, but not overall jealous. He's never possessive, because he likes his partners to enjoy their independence and their freedom. However, he cares and he worries a lot for their well-being.

-Mihawk shows love through actions, not words. But on the times he does get verbal, oof...

-Yes, this is very cliché, but he does whisper sweet nothings in Spanish. It has a better effect on women than men, but it works either way. (I will write a NSFW headcanon list some other time 😏 but oh, he's not a gentle lover.)

-Mihawk loves to get physical. Be it simply by rubbing his partner's shoulder's or latching their arms as they walk down the street, he enjoys physical contact a lot. Given the fact that he's been living on his own for years, he's really touch-starved until Perona and Zoro get there.

-He is very physical with Zoro in a philial or mentor-student way. Lots of pats on the back, hair ruffling, shoulder holding, etc. Zoro is weirded out by this at first, but having lived with Luffy for a while, he's quite adaptable.

-With Perona, on the other hand, he is not physical at all at first. It takes him MONTHS to get to that level with her. When they begin living together, Mihawk is reluctant to even go near her at any point, like she's poisonous or something. Or probably, because she's really loud.

-But the thing is, doing chores together forces Mihawk to get closer. At first it was just a brush of fingers while passing ingredients or helping her reach tall places in the pantry, but sooner than later, he'd find himself toying with her hair or giving her little massages while they read on the library.

-Mihawk has a burning hatred for PDA. Perona mocks him for this quite often, but respects his boundaries and enjoys that he never keeps his hands to himself when they're at home.
